|Fidelity Investments cut its stake in VimpelCom, Russia's second-largest mobile-phone operator, in the fourth quarter of last year, as the wireless company faced tax claims and a criminal investigation, raising concern it may share a similar fate to that of oil major Yukos.|
Fidelity Management & Research Company is the beneficial owner of 1.27 million shares, or 2.47 percent of VimpelCom, as of Dec. 31, 2004, Fidelity said in a Dec. 31 filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The fund owned 5.07 percent as of Dec. 31, 2003, according to SEC documents. Fidelity International Ltd. is the beneficial owner of 189,462 shares, a 0.37 percent stake, down from 2.88 percent a year ago.
